Constants

Constants are special number values that can be used to make Formulas with Number values or Money values in your data. A simple example would be to multiple an invoice amount with a constant sales tax amount. Constants can be changed at any time and the results of the formula will be always stay in sync.

Each constant is unique to a particular view. You cannot automatically re-use a constant on a different view, although you can create the same constant again.

How to add a constant

  1. Open the column menu of a column containing Number values, Money values or an existing formula that contains raw numbers.
  2. Move your mouse over Formula to reveal the submenu containing the four arithmetic operations.
  3. Move your mouse over the arithmetic symbol you want to use (add, subtract, multiply or divide).
  4. Click Constant….
  5. In the pop-up window, type a name for the constant and type an initial number value.
  6. Dabble will add the formula as a new column to the view, and the constant will appear on the left below the Filters.

Re-using existing constants

If you have already added a constant to a view, it will appear in the Formula menu as an option if you want to add another formula column.
