Copyright settings
For Dabble DB Commons databases, you can change the copyright settings to instruct the public how your data can be re-used. All Commons data is protected by copyright under a Creative Commons license, but the data may be re-used under certain conditions.
To access the copyright settings, go to Administration, and click the Copyright Settings tab.
The copyright settings page has a box for you to type the name of the person or entity to whom you wish to attribute copyright ownership.
The three check boxes under Rights allow you to specify how data may be re-used. The text on the right under License Details offers a summary of the particular settings you have chosen.
Rights
The options you may specify include:
- Allow Commercial Use: If checked, others can use your data in commercial projects. If unchecked, then your data may only be used for personal or non-commercial projects.
- Allow Derivative Works: If unchecked, then your data can only be copied and re-used in its entirety. If checked, then others may use parts of the data and modify it to suit their own project.
- Require Share Alike: If checked, then others who re-use your data must share their work under the same terms as you have offered the data — they must also release their work under a Creative Commons license. If unchecked, subsequent work using your data may still be copyright in a traditional manner.
