Map view

Map view is a way to show numeric data broken down by geographical area. Dabble includes a world map (divided by continent), contentinal maps (divided by country) and some country maps (divided by region such as state or province). Any table view which contains a location field as a column can be changed to Map view.

By default, a map view will simply show the count of entries in each geographical area. Each area is shaded in color, with darker areas denoting more entries. A legend at the right indicates the number range each shade denotes.

The map view button and control for zooming out

If you are looking at a world map, you can zoom into a continent by clicking on it. From the map of North America, you can also zoom in to more detailed maps of the U.S.A. and Canada.

To zoom out, use the drop-down select box above the map.

Mapping other numeric columns instead of the number of entries

You can show other numeric data besides the count of entries. To do so, the table view must contain one or more columns of numeric data.

You can use the drop-down select box beside “Showing:”, above the map, to choose which numeric value to use for the map.
