Web link values

Web links are Field values with web site and web page addresses (URLs) like browser bookmarks. When such values are displayed in your application, they will be presented as clickable links.

Options

Specifying a default link

You can specify a default link for when new entries are created. This only applies to the future: existing entries will not have their values changed.

Links are to images

If this option is enabled, and the link for an entry points to an image on the web (in JPG, GIF or PNG format), the image will be shown wherever possible instead of the link itself. Images will be shown as thumbnails which can be clicked to load the full image. (Read more about images.)

Active link text

By default, the system shows links as shortened URLs. For example, the link http://www.yourwebsite.com/path/to/site would be shown as www.yourwebsite.com.

Alternatively, you can specify text to show instead of the URL. Wherever a link appears, the clickable text will be shown.

  • Same text for each link allows you to specify text to be shown in place of all links.
  • User-specified text for each link allows the person editing the entry to specify different text for each link. (A default can still be offered.)
